Searching Stevens County Criminal Dockets
Felonies are filed in Stevens County Superior Court, and the County Clerk keeps those files. Use the official Odyssey Portal for the search. Misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, criminal traffic, and municipal matters all sit with Stevens County District Court. Washington's directory routes Chewelah, Colville, Kettle Falls, and Springdale municipal cases there as well.
Bring a name, case number, or ticket number. Superior criminal numbers look like XX-1-XXXXX-XX. The middle 1 flags a criminal case. Type every hyphen.
- Identify Superior, District, or municipal court.
- For Superior Court, search Odyssey by case number or Last, First Middle.
- Select Stevens County and narrow by criminal type, status, date, or judicial officer.
- Open Events, Hearings, and Disposition Events.

- Request documents from the clerk holding the case.
Stevens Felonies and District Misdemeanors
Stevens County Superior Court, part of the Tri-County Judicial District, handles felonies. The County Clerk in Room 206 keeps those files. District Court takes misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, criminal traffic, and municipal cases. Its docket lives in Room 213.
| Level | Route | Custodian |
|---|---|---|
| Superior felony | Odyssey | County Clerk |
| District misdemeanor | JIS and daily docket | District Clerk |
| Municipal service | District Court/JIS | District Clerk |
| Juvenile offender | Restricted | Tri-County Juvenile Department |
For Northport, call District Court to confirm venue. A row on a state report does not prove which court holds a current ticket.
Inside a Stevens County Criminal Docket
Odyssey's Events view is the Register of Actions, listing each act in date order. Hearings shows settings, Disposition Events summarizes outcomes, and none of it is the full text of a filing.
| Header | Court, case number, filing date, parties, counsel, officer, type, and status. |
|---|---|
| Charge | Complaint, information, citation, alleged offense, and amendments. |
| Hearings | Appearance, arraignment, motion, pretrial, trial, sentencing, and review. |
| Events | Filings, bail, warrants, continuances, pleas, and notices. |
| Outcome | Dismissal, conviction, sentence, transfer, appeal, or closure when public. |
Stevens Criminal Codes in Plain Terms
Compact docket codes are easier with the official JIS code table. AFPRBCF means a probable-cause affidavit was filed. BAILST means bail was set. AGTCF marks an agreed trial continuance. APPOINT records counsel appointment. ABDOL means an abstract went to the Department of Licensing.
A code notes an act, never the court's full reasoning. Ask the clerk for the linked paper if it is not online.
How a Criminal Case Moves
Every criminal case opens with a citation, complaint, information, or probable-cause filing. Then come appearance, arraignment, motions, pretrial, or readiness. A plea may end it; otherwise the docket runs on to trial, and later entries can show dismissal, conviction, sentence, costs, appeal, or closure.
Docket flow: Filing › Arraignment › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing
A continuance is not a dismissal. The old date can linger in the history while a newer hearing entry controls the case.
Monday Stevens Criminal Settings
District Court lists mandatory in-person criminal arraignment and first-appearance dockets on Mondays at 1:30 p.m., effective March 18, 2024. That pattern does not prove your own setting is still active.
Verify the setting. Check the daily docket and notice, then call 509-684-5249 when they do not settle the date.
A criminal ticket with no date means the court mails a summons or notice. Call the clerk if nothing arrives within two weeks.
Courts That Hold Criminal Dockets
Superior Court sits in Room 209 at 215 South Oak Street, Colville. Its clerk is in Room 206 at 509-684-7575. District Court is in Room 213 at 509-684-5249. Public windows are listed for weekdays, 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
You can also reach records through Odyssey, Washington Courts/JIS, the District daily docket, phone, the clerk counter, copy requests, and a possible courthouse terminal. The Stevens County case lookup walks through each search field.
Stevens Warrants Require Direct Contact
The District criminal page says failure-to-appear or failure-to-comply warrant information requires an in-person District Court appearance. Bring the ticket number, since a portal event never replaces court instructions.
A docket is not a criminal-history report. Use it to follow a case, confirm court dates, and read public filings.
Sealed Dockets and Public Access
Washington GR 31 governs public court-record access and personal identifiers. GR 15 governs sealing and redaction, favoring a narrower redaction when it protects the compelling interest. GR 22 restricts defined family and protection-related records.
Access rules: GR 31 addresses access; GR 15 addresses sealing; RCW 13.50.050 covers juvenile confidentiality.
Juvenile, sealed, adoption, mental-health, dependency, protected family, and destroyed material may be missing. No result is not proof that no case exists.
Official Stevens Criminal Copies
Superior copies through the County Clerk cost $0.25 per electronic page. Physical pages run $0.50, and certification is $5 for the first page plus $1 for each added page. District rates are $0.50 per staff page. Electronic pages are $0.25, and certified documents cost $5 plus $1 for added pages. Confirm current fees and bring the case number if you have it.
Certified copies cover the whole document. Clerks can quote cost and delivery time, but they cannot give legal advice.
Stevens Odyssey Search Results
Odyssey Smart Search takes a full case number or a party name. A common name can return a long statewide list. Add Stevens County before picking a result. Advanced Filtering Options narrow things by search type, case type, case status, filing-date range, or judicial officer. The public guide adds a Sounds Like option for unsure spelling. It should not be combined with a wildcard search.
The first grid shows case number, file date, type, location, and party name. Open the case number; that short row is not the docket. Inside the case, start with Case Information, then Party, Events, Hearings, and Disposition Events. This order keeps identity separate from chronology. A hearing label is not a final result.
Stevens Hearing Search Is Separate
Hunting by date? Odyssey's Search Hearings tile is the right tool, not ordinary Smart Search. Set the county to Stevens County. Pick Criminal as the hearing type, then search a party, business, or attorney alongside a date range. A single match opens the Register of Actions right away. Several matches land you on a list first. The Tri-County calendar helps with trial and special-setting descriptions, but Stevens County says plainly that it cannot stand in for Odyssey's official docket.
Lower-court dates call for a few more sources. Check the District daily docket, the summons or notice, Washington Courts Find My Court Date, and the clerk. Each channel covers a slightly different slice. Confirming directly matters most after a continuance, since a stale date can linger in the case history.
E-Filing Changed in Stevens County
Electronic filing in Stevens County Superior Court switched from TrueFile to E-File Washington on January 8, 2026. The new platform runs on Odyssey File & Serve Cloud. That ties the filing workflow to the same case-management environment behind the public register. Get a submission in before the published 3:00 p.m. cutoff and it counts as filed that day. Anything later rolls over. The filing date becomes the next business day.
This timing explains a common puzzle. A paper sent late in the day may not yet appear as a same-day docket event. It still says nothing about whether a filing was accepted in a particular case. When filing time matters, read the Register of Actions and call the County Clerk. The clerk's entry controls, not an emailed draft or a calendar description. Stevens County also advises allowing one business day for submitted paperwork to appear.
