Look Up Stevens County Traffic Tickets

Start with the paper citation, then turn to Stevens County District Court, the office that holds the court record behind most Stevens County traffic tickets. That court also handles cases for several municipal courts in the area. The notice shows the ticket number, the alleged violation, your response choices, and the deadline that comes with them. Some answers are online. Washington's case-search layer and the daily docket can confirm a setting or status, though a public Odyssey citation search may not be available. Read both sides of the notice, keep the ticket number, meet the response deadline, and call the District Court Clerk when the venue, status, or court date cannot be confirmed online.

Stevens County Traffic Court Records

Every ticket grows into a case file. Stevens County District Court is the keeper. Its docket covers county limited-jurisdiction infractions, criminal traffic cases, and municipal dockets routed to it. The Washington Court Directory lists Chewelah, Colville, Kettle Falls, and Springdale municipal courts as served through the District Court. A 2025 state table adds Northport and Springdale municipal rows, but a reporting label alone does not settle which venue holds the case today.

Ask for the file at the court itself. The traffic docket can show the citation or charge, the response, a plea when one applies, the hearing, any continuance, and the judgment or disposition. Payment and court-cost entries appear too, along with abstract, failure-to-appear, or warrant events if they happen. City hall does not hold it. The state licensing agency does not either.

Stevens Traffic Starts with the Ticket

The citation is your first access channel. It states the citation number, the alleged violation, your response choices, the issuing court, and any appearance date. Read both sides. For a civil infraction, the County requires a response within 30 days of issuance. Mark the option the notice allows. Then mail it or hand-deliver it to the District Court Clerk.

Criminal traffic works differently. The ticket may already carry a date. If it does not, the court sets a hearing and mails a summons or notice. Stevens County says that notice normally arrives within two weeks. Call 509-684-5249 if it never shows up. These local time markers matter more than any general sketch of Washington traffic procedure.

Looking Up a Traffic Ticket

No single search box reaches every Stevens County citation. The official channels overlap instead: the ticket, the District Court phone and counter, the daily docket, Washington Courts Case Search or Find My Court Date, and the clerk's record request. Odyssey Search Hearings can locate some public hearing information. But the public Odyssey guide marks citation-number search unavailable, so a ticket lookup usually ends at the clerk's counter or phone.

Municipal Traffic Routes in Stevens County

The official court directory routes four municipal services to the county. Those are Chewelah, Colville, Kettle Falls, and Springdale. Their traffic court records belong with the District Court clerk and the limited-jurisdiction search system. A city administrative records desk is the wrong stop. City hall may keep an ordinance or another municipal record. But it does not automatically hold the docket. Start at the county seat of record, not the front counter at town hall.

A zero row in the state caseload table is not proof that no current case exists. The citation and the clerk answer the venue question.

How to Find Your Traffic Court Date

Check the paper notice first. An appearance date may be printed right on a criminal citation. Or it may arrive later in a summons. An infraction response can lead to a hearing notice, depending on the option you selected. After the notice, try Washington Courts Find My Court Date. Then try the District daily docket, then the clerk. Skip the County's Tri-County Superior calendar for ordinary traffic settings; it is not the main source for those.

A continuance can leave the old date sitting there as history. The latest operative hearing notice and direct clerk confirmation control.

Thirty Days for a Stevens Infraction

The official Stevens County infraction page lays out the civil-infraction path and the appeal framework. Its practical rule is plain. Respond within 30 days of the ticket's issuance. Mailing or bringing the marked notice to the District Court clerk preserves whatever response route you picked.

Stevens County infraction response instructions for traffic tickets

Tie the response choice to the court record. Do not sit on a ticket while waiting for it to surface in a portal. The paper deadline runs from issuance, not from the day a website catches up. When an online index lags or lacks citation search, the District Clerk is the fallback. Send your response on time.

Pay or Contest a Ticket

Paying and contesting are two different procedural choices. Follow the options printed on the notice. Stevens County does not publish one universal fine table, and it does not promise that every case qualifies for mitigation, a deferred finding, or another alternative. A payment service records a transaction and nothing more; it is not a complete court docket or a certified disposition.

Request mitigationSelect it only when the notice offers itRequest, hearing setting, and result
ContestReturn the selected response by the deadlineContested hearing and judgment
Criminal ticketAppear as directed by ticket or summonsArraignment, plea, settings, and disposition

Failure to respond or appear can change the case. The County warns of license suspension for failure to respond and requires an in-person District Court appearance for listed failure-to-appear or failure-to-comply warrants.

The District Court page links nCourt through stevenstix.com. Accounts moved to PayAssist cannot use nCourt, and the posted card-payment phone number is 1-877-793-8935, so confirm your current payment status with the clerk.

No Citation Search in Stevens Odyssey

Odyssey is the official Superior Court docket route. Its public guide, however, marks citation-number search unavailable. That is why a Stevens County ticket lookup cannot stop after an empty Odyssey result. Turn to Washington's JIS or Find My Court Date route, and to the District Court clerk, which keeps the lower-court and municipal case record.

Clerk fallback: call 509-684-5249 with the ticket number or visit District Court, Room 213, 215 South Oak Street, Colville, during its posted public-window hours.

The District Court daily docket is a pointer, not the full file. When you visit, ask whether a public courthouse terminal is available. If the index lists an event but not the filed document, request a copy from the clerk.

Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record

Two separate public files exist here. Stevens County District Court holds the traffic case record that a citation opens, while the Washington Department of Licensing keeps the state driving record. When a Stevens County court action is reportable, the clerk sends DOL an abstract of the court record. On the docket, the JIS code ABDOL marks that abstract as sent.

RecordCustodianContents
Traffic court caseStevens County District Court ClerkCitation, response, settings, continuances, judgment, costs, and docket events
Driving recordWashington Department of LicensingThe licensing agency's separate official driver file

Neither file replaces the other. This traffic page deals with the court case and court date only. An entry showing that an abstract went out says nothing about what the agency's own record holds.

Stevens Traffic Appeals Follow the Record

Appealing an infraction judgment means filing a notice within 30 days, according to the County. Superior Court then reviews the District Court record instead of holding a new trial. Everything in the lower-court docket shapes what moves forward. The exhibits matter too. So do the orders and any certified copies.

The appeal also generates entries of its own and a new court-level case number. Check procedure with the clerk and the current rules. A label on the calendar cannot reveal the contents of the record being reviewed.

Copies and Fees

Viewing a docket may cost nothing. Copies are another matter, since District Court charges for them. The published schedule sets staff copies at $0.50 per page. Electronic transmission runs $0.25 per page. Certified copies cost $5 per document, plus $1 for each additional page. The schedule also lists $10 per CD and $20 for copying documents to CD. Get a current quote from the clerk before you pay.

Have the citation or case number ready, and state whether you need a plain or certified record. The clerk can locate and copy the file but cannot give legal advice.

Stevens Ticket Records at Room 213

District Court's public window at the Stevens County Courthouse is listed for weekdays from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. A ticket that has not shown up online can often be settled at the counter. So can a question about the municipal route, a copy request, or the in-person warrant instruction.

Phone, mail, in-person delivery, the daily docket, Washington Courts/JIS, and the payment service each handle a different piece of the job. Call none of them the only way in. For wider scheduling help, the Stevens County court dates page shows how a new or reset setting appears across the calendar systems.
